This class explores the intentions of the Founding Fathers when drafting the U.S. Constitution. Students will learn how their goals—liberty, justice, and limited government—shaped the legal system. 
Through scenarios, students will analyze how these intentions apply to modern laws, practicing critical thinking by debating whether current laws align with the Founders’ vision.

The Intent of the Law

We will:<ul><li>Understand the Founding Fathers’ goals in creating the Constitution (liberty, justice, limited government).</li><li>Explore how these intentions influence modern laws.</li><li>Develop critical thinking by analyzing whether current laws align with the Founders’ vision.</li><li>Reinforce legal vocabulary and analytical skills through scenario discussions.</li><li>Vocabulary:<ul><li>Liberty: Freedom to act or think as one chooses, protected by law.</li><li>Justice: Fair and equal treatment under the law.</li><li>Checks and Balances: System where government branches limit each other’s power.</li><li>Bill of Rights: First 10 amendments to the Constitution, protecting individual freedoms.</li><li>Tyranny: Abuse of power by a government or ruler.</li></ul></li><li></li></ul>
