Course Description

We will:

  • Understand the Founding Fathers’ goals in creating the Constitution (liberty, justice, limited government).

  • Explore how these intentions influence modern laws.

  • Develop critical thinking by analyzing whether current laws align with the Founders’ vision.

  • Reinforce legal vocabulary and analytical skills through scenario discussions.

  • Vocabulary:

    • Liberty: Freedom to act or think as one chooses, protected by law.

    • Justice: Fair and equal treatment under the law.

    • Checks and Balances: System where government branches limit each other’s power.

    • Bill of Rights: First 10 amendments to the Constitution, protecting individual freedoms.

    • Tyranny: Abuse of power by a government or ruler.
